Pasquale Scognamiglio is a visual artist from Naples whose research develops across painting, drawing, printmaking, watercolour, mixed media and interventions in public space.

Trained at the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples, his artistic path was shaped by the study of painting and graphic arts, with particular attention to traditional printmaking techniques. His early research into engraving established a lasting relationship with the sign, matter and the expressive possibilities of the handmade image.

From the beginning, myth, archetype and Mediterranean memory have occupied a central place in his work. Figures drawn from ancient narratives coexist with sacred imagery, popular traditions, animals, symbols and fragments of everyday life.

Rather than reproducing the past, Scognamiglio uses these elements as living forms through which to investigate human experience, identity and the relationship between memory and the contemporary world.

Naples and the Mediterranean are both a geographical origin and an inner landscape. The sea, Partenope, sacred traditions and the cultural stratifications of Southern Italy repeatedly emerge within a visual language suspended between the sacred and the profane, history and imagination, collective memory and personal experience.

Technique is approached not as a fixed stylistic identity, but as a language chosen according to the image. Painting allows colour and matter to construct an emotional space; engraving reduces the image to sign, pressure and trace; watercolour introduces transparency and suspension; drawing becomes an immediate form of thought.

At the centre of his practice lies a continuous investigation into what survives within us: myths, symbols, spiritual images and memories capable of crossing time and returning in new forms.
